May 2010 was the opening of the new American Apparel store located in the heart of Leeds. Accompanied by the Manchester VM, Head VM and Creative Director of the company, I was taught how to visual merchandise the store. The company are keen to employ young enthusiastic people and it was a fantastic opportunity and exciting project to work on with such creative, hard working people. Below are just a few shots of my visual merchandising which appear very minimal as it was only initial store set up. We were going for spacial and clean feel to the store to echo the clothes; contrasting from AA's previous disco pants, tattoos and plugs look to a clean cut, classic 90s minimalism style, drawing inspiration from vintage Lacoste/Ralph Lauren.
